Today we launch a new series where we ask our well-travelled readers to help each other. Below we list some readers' questions and, if you have advice, we would like you to send it to: Ask a fellow traveller, The Guardian, 119 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3ER. Or e-mail: ask.a.fellow.traveller@ theguardian.com. We will publish the answers as soon as we can. Please send in other questions, too. We cannot answer those we do not publish
We will be travelling to a destination in Catalonia by car (heading for the French/Spanish border at La Jonquera), via Dover to Calais, taking two days to arrive at our destination. Having never driven through France before, does anyone have any tips and also recommendations for two nights' reasonable accommodation en route?

We are a family with children aged nine and 14 desperate to travel to Cuba in safety and a fair degree of physical comfort but avoiding all-inclusive resorts. We do love beach holidays but don't want to sit in a compound full of people like us! We want to experience Cuba and meet Cuban people but have fun, too, especially for our children. Any suggestions?

Myself and two friends (two female, one male) will be travelling to Thailand in the last week of August until mid September. As we have been given a number of conflicting views, can anyone tell us what weather to expect - ie amount of rain etc? We will be travelling from Bankok, and making our way down to Ko Samui and Ko Pha-Ngan. Any additional tips or advice would also be greatly received.

I'm looking for like-minded travellers instead of travelling solo. Are there any reputable websites that cater for this?

I want to spend a week in a villa or appartment in Umbria, Italy, in September. Can anyone recommend one, in a good location, for a reasonable price? I am looking for accommodation only.
