Montreux
The 34th Montreux Jazz Festival begins 7 July by the shores of Lake Geneva. Jazz is a broad church, but performers at the festival also include BB King, Lou Reed and Deep Purple, which does seem to stretch its definition. Bahamas
Discover the World (01737 218 800) have availability on a 10 day swimming with dolphins holiday departing 23 June to North Bimini island, with opportunities to join spotted and bottlenose dolphins in the water on six special four-hour cruises. The holiday costs £1,599 per person, including return flights, seaplane transfers, accommodation and a guide.
France

Mongolia
The Land of the Khans trip to Mongolia from The Imaginative Traveller (020 8742 8612) is more of an adventurous proposition. Two departures on 13 and 14 July coincide with the Naadam festival which celebrates the tribal traditions of archery, wrestling and horse-racing. £1,650 will cover internal travel and accommodation and a guide, but not external flights and the itinerary also includes the Gobi desert.

Australia
Check on the progress of Australia's Olympic preparations with flights to Sydney or Brisbane from Heathrow for £465. The flights are with All Nippon, through Flightbookers (020 7757 2468), are available until 13 July, with an optional stopover in Osaka.
Cuba
