Shiny on the outside, glossy on the inside, and divided thematically, this slim guide is a time-efficient way to navigate the city. Its rapid fire approach, however, is at odds with a relaxed city such as Barcelona, whose smaller pleasures and grander sights exist to be savoured. The attractive Eixample area, for example, is dismissed as 'monotonous' and the extraordinary Fundacio Joan Miro merits little more than a footnote.
