A four-night stay between January 1 and March 25 will cost from £158pp for four people sharing two twin rooms on a B&B basis, including a short sea ferry for a car and four passengers. Residents are offered reduced green fees of £12 Monday to Friday, £18 weekends.

French Alps: A seven-night Christmas skiing holiday from Eurotunnel Motoring Holidays (0870 333 2001) costs from £85pp based on six sharing a self-catering apartment in Brides les Bains. The package includes return Eurotunnel crossing for one car and passengers and accommodation at the Residence le Grand Chalet.

North America

Canada: Ski at Marble Mountain in Newfoundland from £499 for a seven-night stay in January 2001. The package from Club Pavilion (0870 2410427) includes self-catering accommodation at the Marble Villa Condominiums and scheduled flights from Heathrow to Deer Lake via St Johns. Marble Mountain, host of the 1999 Canada Winter games, has an average annual snowfall of 16ft and a ski area of 185 acres. Adult ski passes cost £70 for six days.

Asia

Nepal: A 14-day trek with Journeymen (01747 812471) in the Annapurna region costs £349 excluding flights. Trips leave between January and March 2001 and include surface travel from Kathmandu, accommodation, guides and porters but not food.

Indonesia: A six-night trip to North Sulawesi from January 2001 costs from £845pp with Magic of the Orient (01293 537700). It includes scheduled flights from London via Singapore, B&B accommodation at the Tasik Ria resort in Tanawangko Bay neat Manado, and a guided two-day, one-night excursion in the Tangkoko nature reserve, one of the few remaining strongholds of the black macaque.
