The annual fireworks at Alexandra Palace Park are among the biggest and best in Britain. There's also a funfair, radio roadshow, beer festival and music.

Money to burn

Watch £25,000 go up in flames at what is reputedly Suffolk's biggest firework display. Expect funfairs, entertainers, live music and plenty to eat.

Playing with fire

Street entertainers, candle art and safe spectator venues make Cleethorpes' Fire Festival a popular event for families.

Floating lights

Spectacular, mile-long evening processions of glittering floats make their way through three of the Mendip's most historic towns as their illuminated Guy Fawkes carnivals compete for trophies.

Fun run

The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run commemorates Emancipation Day (when drivers no longer had to have a man preceding the car with a red flag).

Spectators are welcome along the route - from London's Hyde Park Corner between 7.30am and 9pm, along the A23 to Gatwick, the B2036 to Pycombe and the A23 to Brighton where cars begin to arrive in Madeira Drive from about 10.45am.

Return of the hero

Admiral Nelson will arrive at Great Yarmouth tomorrow aboard the Grand Turk as part of a huge re-enactment of Nelson's Return involving over 400 actors. A day of events culminates in a Victory Celebration in the market place and a firework finale.

Moor lore

Visitors to Dunster's new Exmoor Visitor Centre can focus on what makes Exmoor special, try out hands-on activities and learn about the traditional wool and timber industries and today's national park conservation issues.
