Dear Milly, Good luck in your 'netjetting'. My younger daughter lives in Hawaii, where we went for a holiday a few years ago. Make sure you see one of the smaller islands, and I recommend Kauai, where she lives - it's laid back, relaxing and very friendly!

Dear Milly, Good luck in your 'netjetting'. My younger daughter lives in Hawaii, where we went for a holiday a few years ago. Make sure you see one of the smaller islands, and I recommend Kauai, where she lives - it's laid back, relaxing and very friendly! It is the oldest and most beautiful - the "Garden Island" - paradise, indeed. If you ever saw the film 'South Pacific' - your parents did, I bet - then you must visit the beach where she "washed that man right of my hair" - Lumahai Beach. Or see the now empty hotel where Elvis Presley's 'Blue Hawaii' was filmed. And a must see is the Waimea Canyon, otherwise known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" There's so much you can visit on the island, and I recommend the Hawaii Handbook, by JD Bidsignani as an excellent travel companion.

For somewhere alternative to stay, a big recommendation - and cheap too - is the Keapana Centre. A secluded garden cottage , B&B, overlooking lush hillsides, near Kapaa where you get a tropical fruit breakfast and can sit in a solar jacuzzi looking up to the stars, where you can relax, meditate, be at peace, etc! There's no where else in Hawaii like it (001 800 822-7968). You get to Kauai by flying an hour's flight to Lihui.
