Milford Haven on the south-west of the South Island is a must and the drive there from Queenstown is also unforgettable. Try to drive up the west coast from Queensland, and do have a look at the sperm whales on the north-east of the South Island. The north island is different with more people around but equally dramatic in its own way.

If you dive check out the north east tip (one of Jacques Cousteau's top ten dives) and on land in the north-west, see the amazing giant Kauri trees (the oldest living things on the planet besides bristlecone pine trees in California) and the astonishing Kauri museum which was quite simply the best museum we've ever visited - and we saw a few during our twelve month trip!

Not much happening in Auckland, but Rotorua is spectacular with its thermal park. If you're going to the States or Canada let us know since we did a 27 states road trip and could give you a few ideas. There's a company called Driveaway which needs cars delivering all over the States - all you pay is the gas.

Happy travelling.......you not missing anything back home! Wish we were there!
