Flying squad
Some 160 aircraft take part in the RAF Mildenhall Air Fete - one of the world's biggest military air displays. Flying includes the Red Arrows and Patrouille de France demonstration teams.

Whit Wednesday
The planting of the penny hedge, an act of penance on the eve of Ascension Day, takes place on Wednesday in Whitby, North Yorkshire. It dates back to the reign of King Henry II.
