Looking for a waistcoat

Our Italian guide on a recent trip to Libya had a wonderful waistcoat which looked like a string vest (hence cool) with lots and lots of pockets (hence no rucksack needed). Any ideas where I could get one like it in England?

• I use one of these every day as a press photographer. I think the one she refers to with sting-vest type mesh shoulders is the one I own made by Domke. It is available to order from photo stores for around £120. However, I bought mine on the internet from a shop near San Francisco called Fargo Enterprises for £35, plus £6 shipping. The customs may add a further £10-£15 duty but not always. I ordered mine on the Sunday and it arrived, complete with bag of sweets, on Wednesday of the same week.

• The British company Arktis Outdoor Products make military 'battle vests' with many pockets and pouches based around mesh vests. They are available in black if camouflage is too conspicuous! They are designed to be used by infantry soldiers so should withstand anything the average traveller throws at them.
