On your bike at Hadrian's Wall
The first stage of a new cycle route will open this month by Hadrian's Wall. The Newcastle to Haltwhistle section of the Hadrian's Wall Cycleway will open on 22 May and the full 160 miles will open in 2003.

Carry on camping
St Lucia, the Caribbean island renowned for all-inclusive resorts, has opened its first campsite. It is at Anse La Liberté on the west coast and offers activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, diving and nature trails; call St Lucia Tourist Board on 0870 900 7697.

Ordnance Survey has launched a new online service allowing people to create a personalised map centred on a site of their choice. The maps will cost £11.99 each plus £2.50 postage.

Almeria takes off
GB Airways will introduce a new flight to the Costa de Almeria this winter. From 3 November, the British Airways franchise carrier will operate twice weekly from Gatwick. Return fares will start from £154 including taxes (0845 77 333 77).
