· Have you tried The Landmark Trust? They have properties in Wales, Yorkshire and the Lake District and as far as I know they come without TVs. Their web site is landmarktrust.co.uk

· This summer I had a fantastic stay at Eunant, a lovely cottage in its own beautiful valley overlooking Lake Vyrnwy in north Wales. The Dairy Cottage which is attached to the main house has a large conservatory, a wood-burning stove in the lounge area, a big farmhouse kitchen and no TV in sight. The friendly and welcoming owners provide a range of games for entertainment and plenty of information on things to do in the area. There are some excellent walking and cycling routes and plenty of other interesting places to visit.

· I can understand why David Howarth would like to rent a television-free cottage, but if he chooses a company that offers this as a feature (assuming one exists) he is limiting the choice of properties available. I am sure that any reasonable agency or cottage owner would agree to a special request to remove the television for the period of his let. In my experience, many cottages have a locked cupboard where the owner's things are safely stored and where the dreaded TV could go.
