EasyJet (0871 7500 100) is to run daily flights to Berlin from Bristol, Liverpool and Newcastle for £22.99 one-way, and Luton from £17.99 one-way. Flights will begin in May, except Bristol which will start in June.

Six new flights to the Mediterranean from Gatwick are to be launched by British Airways next spring and summer. These are Cagliari in Sardinia, Bastia on Corsica and Bari in Italy, Catania on Sicily, Ibiza and Dubrovnik. If you book before Tuesday there are special deals.

£1 peace of mind

Holidaymakers may soon be charged about £1 for a new kind of protection to cover those left out of pocket if their scheduled airline goes bust. Presently, the only protection available is through credit cards and bonding. A number of travel industry bodies have agreed with the Civil Aviation Authority that a new system is required.
