• I suggest you check out Turkey, specifically the resort of Dalyan. This is a small, pretty town on a delta. The nearest beach is a short boat- or minibus-ride away, and most of the hotels, while small, have a pool if you don't want to go down to the beach. The beach is long and sandy and shelves very gently, so is perfect for kids to splash around in. Lots of things for adults to do, too. There is a thermal mud bath in the town, the town overlooks rock tombs carved into a cliff on the opposite bank of the river. These are lit at night and are the perfect backdrop to a dinner on the riverside. A short trip away are several sights of interest. The other big advantage is that the airport at Dalaman is only three-hours from the UK and the resort is 30 minutes by road from the airport.
