· I think that Thrace, in Greece, is the best place for watching and taking photos of birds, especially in the summer. The Hellenic Ornithological Society is a good source of information.
Good places for birdwatching are: Lake Vistonis, which is a conservation area for birds; around the delta of the river Nestos; the forest of Dadia, in the valey of the river Evros.
