In Eastern Europe, don't be tempted by unofficial money-changers. Ten years ago, the black market offered much better deals than the official exchange rate, but today it's possible to get good rates from all local bureaux de change, whereas unofficial money-changers often pass off counterfeit or Communist-era banknotes to unsuspecting tourists.
